Here I share tips on owning and running a consulting Business.
I've owned Consulting Business since 1997. (In fact I own 5 businesses, 3 are Consulting Businesses)
It will be ideal for those wanting to start their own consulting business or who have recently started. We cover marketing, sales, managing client relationships, pricing, taking on staff and more.
No BS. No Hype. Just 25+ years experience in what actually works.
Oh, and one of my biggest tips? Start hiring Virtual Assistants.
I started my own VA business in 2012. And Yes, we do take on new clients from time to time.
Check it out here: www.virtualdonewell.com/

Do You Need Experience to be a Management Consultant?
I've been asked a few times if experience is required before starting in Management Consulting. The short answer is Yes. Certainly in your field of expertise. The 'technical' knowledge and experience I mean. But obviously if you are just starting out as a Management Consultant, that consulting experience will build over time.

I couldnt download 7 Essential Steps to Consulting to start your own consulting business from your website.
New subscriber here 😊. Thank you for the enlightening videos. I stumbled on your page recently, and I love love the contents. I am also in the process of starting out as a consultant, but for small business owners. The services I intend to provide range from human resources, marketing strategies, bookkeeping, budgeting, fundraising, improving sales performance, and general issues that would beguile a small business owner. I'd like to confirm if these names are in the right direction- 1. Small Business Success Strategies 2. Business Success Strategies 3. Small Businesses ProConsult 4. ML Business Solutions (ML being initials of my name) 5. ML Small-Business Consulting
Hi, I have 30 years experience in business and worked as a GM for almost the last 10 years. I recently got an executive MBA online degree from an American business school. Due to economic status and my age is 53 yrs, I have difficulties to find a job, so do you think I can start my consulting business? , given that I live in Egypt and I can serve GCC booming markets. Besides my education degrees, I have good soft skills and communication skills.
Great video!
This is gold. Thank you very much.
Glad it helped!
concerning about my previous employer as my first client, how can i make a client if i am still working for them and opened my own business consulting firm ?
If you are still working for a company, I cannot see how you can also be a consultant to that same company. How would you divide the role and duties?
AI does that better
Then go for it.........😉
@@ConsultingBusinessSchool I'm having 2 postgraduate diploma in project management and global business management, I think I will start working for myself and start my own firm
Let us know how it goes..........
I’m interested in the program; please share details
Program? I've considered creating a training program for consultants...... But really there is not a lot of interest. And there are lots of programs out there already.

The simple answer is Yes, you do need experience. That is what your client is paying for. Experience in your chosen are of expertise and experience in helping other clients with the same problem.

@@UKDeliveriesDriverAdventures Just learn to manage it. I hade a consultant working for me for many years with dyslexia
Excited for the series to resume. Thank you sir 🙏🏿
Sorry it's been a long time!
@consulting business school. I have no experience at all in consulting however I am going to start one in consulting chauffeur services and other businesses to help people's to start-up. I can learn myself as I go by on my own chauffeurs services business.
OK, so what experience do you have in managing 'start ups'? What will your advice be based on?
@ConsultingBusinessSchool Like I said I have no experience yet but when I do. I will let you know.
To stand out in management consulting for a chauffeur service help clinic, consider focusing on the following key areas: 1. **Specialized Expertise**: Highlight your deep understanding of both the chauffeur service industry and the specific needs of clinics. This can include knowledge of regulations, client service expectations, and the logistics involved in transporting patients. 2. **Operational Efficiency**: Showcase your ability to streamline operations. Emphasize your skills in optimizing routes, managing fleet maintenance, and ensuring timely service, all of which are critical in a healthcare setting. 3. **Quality and Safety Standards**: Demonstrate your commitment to high safety and quality standards, which are paramount in healthcare transport. Detail any experience you have with implementing rigorous training programs for drivers, maintaining vehicle hygiene, and adhering to healthcare-specific safety protocols. 4. **Technological Integration**: Discuss your proficiency in integrating technology to enhance service delivery. This could include GPS tracking, automated scheduling systems, mobile apps for booking and tracking rides, and data analytics for continuous improvement. 5. **Customer Experience**: Illustrate your strategies for providing exceptional customer service. This includes managing patient comfort, handling sensitive information with confidentiality, and ensuring a seamless and stress-free experience for clients. 6. **Compliance and Risk Management**: Highlight your ability to navigate regulatory compliance and manage risks associated with transporting patients. Experience with insurance, liability issues, and emergency response planning is particularly valuable. 7. **Cost Management**: Show your expertise in managing costs without compromising service quality. This includes budgeting, financial forecasting, and finding cost-effective solutions for fleet management and operational processes. 8. **Client Case Studies and Success Stories**: Provide examples of past successes where you have improved efficiency, safety, or customer satisfaction for similar services. Quantifiable results and testimonials can be very persuasive. 9. **Continuous Improvement**: Emphasize your commitment to continuous learning and improvement. Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices to keep your consultancy services relevant and innovative. 10. **Networking and Partnerships**: Leverage your professional network to form strategic partnerships that can enhance your service offerings. This could include alliances with healthcare providers, technology vendors, or regulatory bodies. By focusing on these areas, you can differentiate yourself as a management consultant who brings significant value to chauffeur services catering to clinics.
A great list, that looks like it is from Chat GPT. THe secret of course, is to get out there and gain the expertise and experience in these areas. I'm sure you can.........
Too Good 💎
Hope it was helpful.
Wow video after a long time. Hope you will give more such nice videos
I'll try to make some new videos for this channel. Just been really busy unfortunately.
Hi Rob,I am planning a business around providing Indian market specific business advisory solutions Some names I have thought are Synergy Sphere or Global vantage Solutions Do you have any recommendations/comments?
I'm a bit old school with business names, and I like them to be related to the business focus. It helps with a start up I think. But honestly, it doesn't seem to matter these days.
As someone who is considering getting into Consulting, this is very helpful. I wanted to know more about the various insurance you mentioned, I am from India idk if it's different for every geography
Depending on the countries that you will operate in, consider the risks. Insure for those risks. i.e. Bad advice and the client sues you, or you cause damage to the clients business, or your staff get sick or have an accident whilst working with client.........
Perfectionism has always been a challenge for us, so we adopted an 80% target model to keep us on point and avoid going too far down the rabbit hole.
Makes sense!
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
Great
Great piece. Please any video yet on when to bring on other people and not just you as mentioned here? Thanks

I am new to the consulting business, in fact few days old. Although, I have been consulting for individuals on a very small scale. However, now that I took the step to advance on it, I am quite trying to get hold of where do I start. Individually, I worked more on relationships and career. A few times, what kind of business seemed lucrative using few market analysis. The big question is: how do I start with organizations? I have a couple of ideas though.
Networking and good marketing!

Great channel you have going here Rob, very insightful advice............keep it up.

How about consulting for non-profit organizations? Any advice?
Sure, I've consulted to quite a few non-profits. I suppose there are 'degrees' of non profits. Some of the very large ones have big teams on salaries, huge marketing budgets and the like. I would tend to treat these just the same as any other client. Smaller ones, who might not be able to afford regular consulting fees, I might help at a discount if it was a worthy cause that resonated with me.
Gosh! I came across your content a week ago! This is gold! Please never, ever take this content down! 😅 (at least for the next 12 months 😉😅)
Glad you enjoy it!
Excellent post. The previous employer is the area I have not touched yet. Thank you for the great content.

I use an hourly rate when working offsite from my home, then a daily rate when onsite at customer. My monthly invoice is broken out into weeks and I show the major activities and outputs with associated hours for each week - just short bullet points. I charge for travel expenses but not for my time while travelling to the client - 10+ hours - but wonder if i should be?
Personally I don't charge for travel time, even for Overseas travel.

Hi Rob, I recently joined a newer company with the goal of expanding their sales division, but the journey has been quite challenging thus far. My initial step was to establish a CRM system to manage our leads effectively; however, I'm facing considerable obstacles in outreach efforts. Our company specializes in ERP consulting with a focus on SAP solutions, and our team boasts partners with over two decades of expertise in SAP. Despite our capability to staff and deploy various ERP systems, we predominantly align with SAP due to our partners' proficiency. The challenge arises when attempting to connect with decision-makers at potential client companies, as gatekeepers frequently obstruct direct communication. I have explored various strategies, including cold calls aimed at C-suite executives within our ideal customer profile, but these efforts have not yielded the desired results. I also leveraged LinkedIn for outreach, but to no avail. We've yet to fully explore email marketing campaigns, primarily due to budget constraints and concerns about our messages being relegated to spam folders. With a solid sales background, I've always operated within established frameworks and under mentorship. However, forging a sales team and strategy from the ground up is a novel experience for me. My principal hurdle is engaging the appropriate contact for an initial conversation to explore potential collaborations. I would greatly appreciate any insights or techniques you could share to help me secure a brief introductory meeting with the right individuals. Looking forward to your valuable suggestions. Best regards, Carmen Falcone cfalcone@nbconsultingllc.com
I don't have any sales staff in my consulting business. All our leads are inbound or repeat business. That should give you some ideas!
